2023 ATHENS – INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL DAYS

The International Lyceum Club of Athens hosted the Cultural Days which included two days in Athens and one day on two Greek Islands. The events started with a cocktail reception at the Lykeion ton Ellinidon, home of the Greek Lyceum Club. Its elegant neoclassical façade and interior design is a testament to the architectural beauty of Athens, befitting the club’s mission to foster art, culture and education.

The Club was established in 1911 by Callirrhoe Siganou-Parren, a pioneer of the feminist movement in the country. Today, one of the Club’s aims is the preservation and the promotion of Greek customs and traditions.

The programme included visits to the Acropolis and its museum and to Cape Sounion with its iconic Temple of Poseidon and the charming Kesiarani monastery, as well as a cruise to the Hyda and Aegina islands.

One of the highlights was the gala dinner to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of the Lyceum. Members across the world enjoyed a performance of Greek folk dances by the women of the Greek Club in their colourful costumes.
